The Cap Blanc rock shelter

A frieze of horses sculpted in the rock

Like the Font-de-Gaume and Combarelles caves, it is managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux; visits are guided and places limited, so book ahead.

An almost complete replica of the world's most famous cave

Since 2016, the International Centre for Cave Art has displayed an almost complete reproduction of remarkable precision: some 600 paintings around 17,000 years old, of bulls, horses and deer. A cliff inhabited for 55,000 years
